One of the challenges of Crawlers is to make the character work on two different levels. This shallower persona and the person playing the character.
The payoff is looking at a kind of character that I haven't seen much of in media. A character that was essentially a god in a previous life but can't really acknowledged it while being completely aware of it.
As profound as that sounds the player realizes he's just a guy with a dorky hobby.
